Classic ISKCON Tapes #12 – Dhira Krsna dasa
Welcome to another edition of Classic ISKCON Tapes. This instance brings us to KT-12 – Hare Krishna Kirtans by Dhira Krsna dasa.
Maybe my memory is shot, but I don’t remember who Dhira Krsna dasa is. Is he still around? Anyone know? Is he the astrologer?
Anyway, this is a quaint little tape. Mostly, it’s just him, kartals, a mrdanga and sometimes a sitar. The songs are short and sweet, but not rushed. He does some different arrangements on a few well known songs, as well as some rarities.
Definitely worth checking out.

Note – I’ve pretty well given up on free file sharing/storage sites. I haven’t been able to find one that actually works well enough to use it in any real capacity. So I’m going to start using my own site. If I have to throw more money at it, so be it. If you have any issues with it, let me know, ok? Ok!

We could upload to mediafire or rapidshare if you like after we get your download. We have an account with both sites and haven’t had any trouble yet.Just send us the word and we’ll send you the links.

P.S. you can upload for free to rapidshare and the files are not deleted until after 30 days without a download. My files will stay there without anyone downloading because i pay about 10 dollars a month. 6 min 49 sec for todays d’l.We get an average of 250kb/ps from rapid but i have seen it peak at 7mb/sec on the rare occasion.Over to you,Prabhu.

As usual – you rock!
Thanks a lot!

Thanks again Prabhu.
Rapidshare is great if you have a paid account with them (I can download at 2mbs from college), but their free download service is a pain… I personally wouldn’t want to subject anyone to that…

Hey thanks!

Yep, I agree. I’m sure they’re great if you pay for it, but since I’m already paying hosting fees, why bother? I’ll probably have to throw a bit more money at it, but certainly not as much as I’d have to pay at Rapidshare.
I’d like the downloading to be as simple as possible, which is why I think I’ll keep the files hosted right here.

Thanks so much, Tee. I really love doing this. I’m just not sure what I’ll do when I run out of music (which will be mid-April).

Haribol! I’m basically no longer on soulseek, so any newly updated music will be on this site. I’ve taken a break from it, but will return after all the holiday hubbub.

DHira Krishna prabhu, Now Bhakti Sudhir Maharaja had a motor home and was travelling around doing colleges with book distribution when I joined the Chicago temple in 1975. He used to play his amplified tamboura and sing with Uttama SLoka and Visnu Datta on Bhajan nights at the Chicago temple, and we always looked forward to it. That tape came out around the same time.

Haribol!
Just wanted to say thank you for cleaning up these tracks and posting them online… I’m a musician, music journalist, and music collector, and I really appreciate the work you’ve put into this labor of love. Bravo!
My parents joined ISKCON when I was five years old, in 1976, so this music is the soundtrack of my childhood. A few minutes ago, I pulled out an old bag of old ISKCON bhajan and kirtan cassettes I’ve had since the ’80s, and I was instantly transported back in time! When I began wondering how I could find “Hare Krishna Festival,” I did a Google search and that’s how I came upon your site. I’m downloading several of your KT-series mp3 files right now.
One request: If you ever come across the “Bahudak, Live in L.A.” tape from 1980, please please please post it! I’ve asked his sons (I went to school with them) if they could help me out, but I think they’ve kinda, uh, moved on. LOL!
Anyway. Thank you for your service. Much appreciated. If you put out a tip jar, I’ll happily contribute.
Right on,
Shyam

I would like to trade audiobooks, if anyone has any. I’m esp. looking for Manah Siksa, Brihad Bhag. and new CC reading by Damodar dasa. To give an idea of what I have to share:
Srimad Bhagavad-Gita: The Hidden Treasure of the Sweet Absolute
Ramayan 3 different versions
SB canto 1-4 read by Aadhar Meijer
Camatcara Candrika read by Tridandi Maharaja
CC read by Amala Bhakta dasa
Sri Siksastaka w/ Bhaktivinoda Thakur’s commentary read by Svati d.d.
Let me know if you want full list. Hare Krsna.

Haribol!
Rar files are sort of like zip files. You open them and they contain a folder and other files. I use Zip files exclusively now, but many of my old uploads were in Rar files. There are several programs that you can use to open the rar files. Eventually, I would like to make all of the old postings into zip files.
For the time being, the program 7zip opens zip files and rar files painlessly.
